Project management is evolving as it is being applied in almost every industry and all project sizes. Project managers are facing more challenges to manage projects and teams especially in technology related projects as teams are working virtual at different hours in different locations.

Whether PMs are engaging with stakeholders or team members, they will have to rely on different tools to manage their projects.

Project managers from Non-IT sector also needs to be aware of latest IT tools for managing their projects.

MS Excel is a must thing to know for PMs, although it is not a project management tool but still there are may functions which PMs can use for analysis and reporting purposes.

MS Project is very popular among PM community. It gives you all the required features in order to manage your projects from small to large scale. MS Project can easily be integrated with other MS applications e.g. MS Outlook, MS Office etc.

Primavera P6 is another very demanding tool and it offers more advanced feature compare to MS Project. Primavera is offered by Oracle and if you are using other Oracle products e.g. ERP than P6 could be your choice.

Smartsheet is a software as a service offering for collaboration and work management, developed and marketed by Smartsheet Inc. It is used to assign tasks, track project progress, manage calendars, share documents, and manage other work, using a tabular user interface.

JIRA is a web-based tool gives project managers the ability to manage multiple teams, projects and workflows more efficiently. The key concepts in JIRA are projects and tasks. JIRA is more popular in agile projects.

Skype, MS Teams and Zoom are common platform for online collaboration and meetings. Project managers need to be familiar with these common online meeting tools.

MS Visio is best tool available for flowcharts and diagrams for presentation and discussion purposes. This tool offers vast variety of diagrams from different categories e.g. IT, Engineering, Business etc.
